Why choose Garlock 9800 for high temperature and high pressure sealinge?
Multi-Swell 3760 is a synthetic fibre sheet with a proprietary rubber binder, developed for liquid service. It’s suited to water, aliphatic hydrocarbons, oils and gasoline, which makes it a practical choice for pipework, pumps and fuel handling equipment where a standard fibre sheet may not cope. The continuous maximum temperature is 205°C, the pressure limit is 34.5 bar, and the minimum temperature rating of -73°C is described on the sheet as conservative.
Its physical figures suggest a gasket that settles well and holds on. Compressibility averages 15% with 40% recovery, and a creep relaxation of 30% means it retains most of its bolt load once fitted. The material also meets ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) specifications, so it suits marine installations as well as general industrial work.
Sheet thickness affects the working limits. The maximum pressure × temperature rating is 5,100 bar × °C for 1/32″ and 1/16″ sheet and drops to 3,400 bar × °C for 1/8″ sheet, so the thinner grades give you more headroom at high pressure and temperature.
