A general purpose natural rubber gasket manufactured to British Standard 1154 Grade Z70, offering reliable resilience and toughness for lower cost sealing applications where oil and heat resistance aren’t a requirement.

Why choose natural rubber?
Natural rubber remains one of the most cost effective sealing materials available where the application doesn’t involve oils, fuels or elevated temperatures. It offers good to excellent resistance to water and good resistance to both acids and alkalis, alongside excellent resilience and good abrasion resistance, making it well suited to general gaskets, buffers and applications involving repeated flexing or impact. With a hardness of 70° Shore A and an operating range of -40°C to +80°C, it performs reliably across a wide range of everyday industrial conditions.
This grade is manufactured to BS1154, a recognised British Standard that guarantees consistent performance regardless of manufacturer, so continuity of supply and specification is assured even if you switch suppliers down the line.
One honest limitation: natural rubber has poor resistance to oils, fuels and petroleum solvents, and poor ozone resistance too, so it isn’t the right choice for outdoor applications with prolonged UV exposure or for sealing against hydrocarbons. For those applications, ask us about nitrile or EPDM instead.
