Why choose Natural Rubber/SBR?
SBR is one of the most widely produced synthetic rubbers available, valued for its good abrasion resistance and resilience at a lower cost than many alternative elastomers. It offers good to excellent resistance to water and good resistance to both acids and alkalis, along with fair resistance to ozone and ketones, making it a dependable choice for everyday sealing and general industrial applications. With a hardness of 65° Shore A and an operating range of -40°C to +70°C, it holds up well across typical ambient conditions.
Because SBR is manufactured at such scale, it remains one of the more economical options where good resilience and toughness matter more than resistance to specific chemicals or elevated temperatures.
One honest limitation: Natural Rubber/SBR has poor resistance to oils and to fuels and petroleum solvents, so it isn’t suitable for applications involving hydrocarbon exposure. For those, ask us about nitrile instead.
