Nitrile Rubber Gaskets

gaskets and sealing

Nitrile Rubber Gasket.

A high grade nitrile rubber offering good oil and hydrocarbon resistance, recommended for most aliphatic and aromatic oils where sealing performance against fuels and lubricants is the priority.

Material Acrylonitrile butadiene / nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR)
Hardness 70° Shore A (+/- 5°)
Temperature range -20°C to +80°C (90°C short term)
Tensile strength 10 MPa
Elongation at break 330%
Abrasion resistance Good
Hydrocarbon resistance Moderate
Ozone resistance Poor
Resilience Good

Every gasket is cut to order, from single prototypes through to full production runs. Send us your drawing or dimensions and we will come back with a quotation.

Why choose Nitrile?

Nitrile, or NBR, is the standard choice wherever a gasket needs to hold up against oils, fuels and hydrocarbons, an area where materials like EPDM and natural rubber fall short. This grade offers good resistance to most aliphatic and aromatic oils and to Benzine, alongside good to excellent resistance to water and alkalis. With a hardness of 70° Shore A and an operating range of -20°C to +80°C (extending to 90°C for short term exposure), it’s built to perform reliably in demanding fuel and lubricant handling environments.

Its good abrasion resistance and 330% elongation at break add durability where the gasket faces repeated handling or movement, on top of its core chemical resistance.

One honest limitation: Nitrile has poor resistance to ozone, so it isn’t the right choice for prolonged outdoor exposure or applications involving significant UV and weathering. For those, ask us about EPDM or Hypalon instead.
