Food processing environments demand materials that are both safe for contact and easy to monitor. This white EPDM grade is formulated using ingredients checked against the current FDA CFR21 177-2600 listings, with every component present at the permitted level, and the compound complies with EC1935/2004. The white colour is a practical advantage in its own right, making contamination or wear immediately visible during hygiene inspections and avoiding the black marking associated with standard rubber grades.
Like all EPDM, this grade performs strongly around water and cleaning chemicals. It offers excellent resistance to water and alkalis, very good resistance to acids and good resistance to ketones, so it stands up well to the caustic and acid based cleaning agents used in food production. An operating range of -40°C to +115°C covers everything from cold storage through to hot washdown cycles.
Note that EPDM offers poor resistance to oils, fuels and petroleum based solvents. For applications involving fatty or oily foods, get in touch for alternatives.
