(Polytetrafluoroethylene) PTFE is now a very common material used in gasketing applications for arduous chemical service.
Commonly referred to as Teflon®, materials offered by us include virgin grades but more commonly biaxially structured with various fillers to comply with the required chemical and creep resistance. The unique structure of filled PTFE ensures high levels of seal integrity
PTFE can be supplied in both soft cut and machined pieces.
We also manufacture PTFE Envelope Gaskets in-house. These are used particularly where PTFE gaskets are coming into contact with very aggressive fluid media or where cleanliness and hygiene are essential.
A PTFE Insert is added to a compressible outer gasket usually made from non asbestos fibre or rubber. This combines virgin PTFE’s inertness with the compressibility of the rubber or fibre material.
We also stock expanded and Filled PTFE in both sheet and roll form including, Gylon®, Sigma®, Top-Chem and Gore™ materials together with PTFE coated fabric.
Munsch/PTM additionally supply PTFE Based Abrasion Resistant Coatings. An abrasion and wear resistant coating functions by reducing the friction caused by one component rubbing against another.
PTFE (or Polytetrafluoroethylene) provides a low coefficient of friction that prevents the scoring, galling, or sticking of mating components.
